  • While the Fall TV schedule in the US does not seem to offering anything new that might appeal specifically to Pagans, the makers of Being Human at ITV2 across the pond will be producing show in the mold of Charmed called Switch featuring four young witches.
  • Here are some photos of the cast on set.
  • Like TV version of The Secret Circle, and the earliest days of Charmed these witches need each other to do magic. Here‘s a markedly incoherent explanation of an early scene where they will try to resurrect a dead cat.
     

    Phoebe, who plays Grace, is Water. She’s more into the spells than anyone else – she has more of a solstice background, and her mum, who Caroline Quentin plays, is really into making her a traditional witch, whereas we’re really modern.

    More of a solstice background? Ah, well. But why this continued trope that magic is necessarily a cooperative endeavor?

  1. My suspicion is that a UK person refering to someone having a “solstice background” is refering to those tens of thousands of people who show up at Stonehengve for the Summer Solstice.

  2. Good point: it did not even occur to me that the phrase might be a usage difference rather than a lack of awareness of modern Pagan culture. Separated by common language, eh?
