So many ways to begin this: (1) the Random Thoughts- Who is the Tackiest Human on the Face of the Planet? (Amend that: Who is the Tackiest Human on the Face of the Planet: with obscene amounts of cash enough to force his Garish Vulgarity upon others?)
(2) the Immediate Jump to a Passionate Response: Are there Pagans (I know there must be; we’re all Pagans, for the Gods’ Sake) who feel as I do a Pang to my Heart when I think of Mother Earth being despoiled? If so: prepare for Righteous Pagan Rage now.
(3) the very Pagan Philosophical Perspective: Is it better to see a Beautiful Pagan Representation of a Deity vandalized- or Blessed Mother Earth? (My personal answer: Yes, because the Representation of a Deity- no matter how Beautiful- is finally just a Thing [an object], whereas Blessed Mother Earth is real. The Gods can take care of Themselves; Blessed Mother Earth is vulnerable to us, and past a certain inevitable point, beyond our capacities to revive.)
All the more engaging of fury to contemplate- which I have not seen, my outrage at the very thought being so great- this recently-released Very-Indie Film: You’ve Been Trumped. Featuring that Tackiest of Americans- that really kind of what Old Money used to call “Nouveau”- that man whose schemes amount to the most deplorably and egotistically offensive- The Donald (meaning, the Oaf Donald Trump). Here is the Tale of a Blissful Spot of [what-was-meant-to-be-environmentally-protected] seaside Land upon the Aberdeenshire coast of Scotland, where many polite, sociably-minded Scots-People were wont to dwell, enjoying the beauty of a seaside Scottish Landscape (protected, they thought, poor fools they, from the encroachment of rapacious developers).
Here enters The Donald (Donald Trump, for those who don’t get this: the Tackiest Human Alive), who determines that this Spot of tranquil, unspoiled, idyllic Scottish Land- will be perfect for the creation of a Donald Trump Golf-Course.
Cue this film, which as I understand it (from the Village Voice Review here and The New York Times Review here) chronicles the various insulting, ego-driven, abusive, Ugly-American-With-Too-Much-Money-And-Not-Enough-Sensibility actions of The Donald (for my opinion, henceforth the Tackiest Human Alive).
Sure, I could have seen this movie: but then I would just be all the more ticked-off. Suffice to point out a number of pertinent points, (#1) being: the increasing Power of Certain Fantastically Wealthy Individuals to buy themselves the Corrupting Powers of Money and Powers-Over other less-fortunate Peoples.
(#2) the Ability of such tragically Garish and Non-Transcendentally Enlightened Persons to command control of Blessed Mother Earth through the Powers of Money.
(#3) the Desecration and Despoiling of Sacred Mother Earth through the actions of such.
Pagans: What must we do? Where shall we turn? To Whom must we repair for Justice and Preservation?
